Meet Don

“I can get it done in Washington because I’ve done it here at the local level.”

Don Sedgwick

Community and family mean everything to me. I’ve been proud to call Orange County home my whole life and have played a part in making it a better place as a dad, a small business owner, coaching youth sports and scouting, even on the School Board, and as Mayor of Laguna Hills. My wife, Monica, and I live in the 45th District and are blessed to have four children who attended neighborhood schools.

The path that led me to run for Congress started long before I took public office. When my father passed away suddenly I stepped up to save the family business, managing a 200-store retail jewelry chain that provided for our family, our workers and their families. Keeping his entrepeneurial spirit alive as an Orange County small businessowner, I currently run a wholesale fashion jewelry business.

His passing taught me that when things look bleak – don’t give up, don’t back down. Running for Congress is no different. Where we are heading is unacceptable. I won’t let radical liberals dismantle our way of life. I believe in a Conservative vision to move Orange County families forward. I can get it done in Washington because I’ve done it here at the local level.

An active life-long Republican with unwavering Conservative values, I stood up for Orange County families as Mayor of Laguna Hills and as a member of the Saddleback Valley School Board. While serving on the Saddleback Valley Unified School District Board for 18 years, I also served as President of the Orange County School Boards Association, represented Orange County on the State School Boards Association’s Board of Directors, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the CIF Southern Section, where I promoted increased participation and safety in high school athletics. For several years I organized and directed the local Symposium on the Family, which works to educate parents and encourage local institutions to support families and children.

“I’m passionate about making government leaner, smarter and more effective”

These are Orange County’s values, and they’re my values too. If you vote for me, I will never back down and I will never give up.

Public Service

As Mayor of Laguna Hills, I’m proud of my record working with law enforcement to lock up criminals and keep families safe. But I know that a smarter and less costly approach is to stop crimes before they start. That’s why we need to invest in our children’s education. On the Saddleback Valley Unified School Board I focused on our children’s futures by fighting for smaller class sizes, high-tech vocational training and stricter teaching standards, producing graduation rates that are among the highest in the Nation. I also serve on the executive committee and Board of Directors for the Orange County Fire Authority and have played a role in significantly reducing response times on 911 calls. I’m passionate about making government leaner, smarter and more effective, and I’ll take that passion to Washington to fight for Orange County families.

Orange County families deserve a Congress that works. They deserve an efficient government that focuses on the issues that matter – taking back control of our southern border, enforcing our laws, saving our hard-earned tax dollars, protecting our jobs and families and fixing our broken health care system.

These are Orange County’s values, and they’re my values too. If you vote for me, I will never back down and I will never give up.
